The brewery is \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ewell famous for making awesome beer\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, but how does their Whisky-making fare, you might wonder?\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nJust fine, judging by the \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBlack Forest Rothaus Single Malt\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. Trust us or trust the awards – since they’ve been winning them left and right. Point is, they know how to make beer and \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ethey know how to make Whisky\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. But we digress… So, since Rothaus cannot distill the Spirit, the mash is transferred to Karlsruhe, to the Kammer-Kirsch Distillery. The Whisky is \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003edistilled twice in small copper pot stills\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, then brought back to Rothaus, where it’s \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eaged for 3 years\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e in ex-bourbon oak casks and bottled at 43% ABV.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nThe end result is \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ea very delicate, smooth dram.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e On the one hand, it’s \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eextremely approachable\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, on the other hand, its \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003edepth and complexity\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e make it a treat even for all you experienced aficionados.
